Easter Witches

Today was Virpomispäivä or Palm Sunday to the rest of the world. Here in Finland children decorate sticks with brightly coloured feathers and tissue paper and dress up like witches. They go door to door saying a poem offering spring blessings and then exchange the sticks with the home owner for candy. Not a bad trade, eh?

My own little witches spent yesterday decorating sticks and today they braved snow flurries and gusty winds to hand out their sticks and gather their reward.
