While studio lighting can be beautiful, there is something truly magical about natural light. As an outdoor photographer, my favorite time to shoot is “golden hour” (just after sunrise or before sunset).
Natural light is incredibly flattering. It creates a soft, warm glow that enhances skin tones and adds depth and texture that’s hard to replicate indoors. It makes your images feel warm, inviting, and timeless. Using natural light is key to achieving that soft, “creamy” background (that beautiful blur you often see in my work), which keeps all the focus where it belongs: on you.

Oulu is full of stunning natural beauty. From the lush greenery of Hupisaaret Park to the scenic waterfront or even a forest trail, the backdrop for your graduation photos can be as unique as you are.
Choosing an outdoor location means your photos will have variety and depth. Unlike a static backdrop in a studio, the outdoors is dynamic. We can find a mix of natural elements—trees, bridges, unique architecture, or a field of wildflowers—to create a diverse gallery of images. Many graduates also find that being in a beautiful, open-air environment helps them relax and enjoy the process far more than being under bright studio lights.
